CALL FOR ENTRIEs: Imagining Democracy

THE PARKERSBURG ART CENTER INVITES ALL ARTISTS LIVING within a 90 mile radius of Parkersburg to submit work for IMAGINING DEMOCRACY, A JURIED EXHIBIT.

Opening Reception: Friday, August 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The show will be in the South Gallery of the PAC August 9-September 7.  An exhibit by Ardine Nelson will be in the Main and on the Mezzanine at that time also.

Digital Submissions Due: July 4
Notification of Acceptance: July 16
Delivery: Accepted work delivered to PAC August 2-3
Opening Reception: August 9, 5:30-7:30
Exhibition Closing: September 7, 2024 

RULES OF ENTRY

  • Artists must be at least 18 and reside in West Virginia or Ohio.

  • Artists may submit up to three (3) works of original art in two- or three-dimensional media or poetry.

  • Artwork may not exceed eight (8) feet in any dimension, or weigh over 70 pounds.

  • Works must have been created within the last five years, and not previously shown at PAC.

  • Time-based media, performance art, and installations will not be accepted.

  • Entrants agree to grant PAC permission to use their images for exhibition promotion.

  • Entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

  • Artists are responsible for the cost of delivery and pick up of their work.  Works should be picked up between September 10-14. 

  • The CASH PRIZES will depend on the entry fees.

NOTIFICATION & DELIVERY

  • Accepted artists will also be notified by e-mail by July 16.

  • Accepted works must be delivered to the Art Center, 725 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV, by no later than 4:00 p.m. SATURDAY, August 3. Shipped works must also arrive at the Art Center by that date.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  •  Selected artwork must be framed, (if applicable) wired, and ready to hang. (Saw-tooth hangers are not acceptable.) 

  •  If the canvas is unframed, it must have finished edges. No clips or plastic poster frames will be accepted.

  •  PAC reserves the right to reject work that differs from the artist’s accepted work, is not suitably presented or is deemed unsuitable.

  •  Work should be picked up by September 14.  Works left at the PAC beyond October 5, 2024 become the property of the PAC..

  •  Artwork cannot directly relate to any issues on the ballot or particular candidates.

  • While on exhibit at the Parkersburg Art Center, works are covered by the Center’s insurance policy.


Living Democracy: Engaging Citizens
